Addicted is a 2014 American erotic thriller film directed by Bille Woodruff. The film, based on Zane's best-selling novel of the same name and adapted by Christina Welsh and Ernie Barbarash, was released theatrically on October 10, 2014. The film received largely negative critical reviews but proved to be a moderate box office success
On the outside Zoe Reynard seems to have the perfect life. She has a perfect marriage to her husband Jason and the couple share two kids. Despite this, Zoe is not happy in her marriage. Zoe has an addiction to sex, leading her to often seek further sexual pleasures outside of her marital bed. While attending an art show, Zoe runs into the artist of the show, Quentin Canosa, and the two quickly share some flirtation. Later, after wanting to sign Quentin to her company, Zoe goes over to his apartment and the two have sex. The couple break up regularly but always inevitably end up getting back together. On one particular occasion, when Zoe goes to get back with Quentin, she finds him having sex with his next door neighbor. Zoe throughout the story is telling this as a flashback or retelling to her therapist, who is treating her for a sex addiction. Later it is discovered that the root of Zoe's addiction was a rape committed against her earlier in her life. Zoe's addiction begins to take over her life and she soon begins to sleep with another man, Corey, whom she met at a club. Zoe eventually decides that she wants to try to fix her marriage with her husband and invites both Corey and Quentin to meet her at Quentin's apartment. Saying she does not want to say it twice, she breaks up with the two and through this they realize that she has been sleeping with both of them. Quentin becomes very angry and pushes Corey to the ground after he lunges at Zoe. After Corey is knocked out, Quentin tells Zoe that she is not going to leave him and begins to walk towards her. In fright, Zoe shoves a glass artwork between them, smashing it to pieces. Quentin walks straight over them, pulling bits of glass out of his feet. While hiding from Quentin who is chasing after her with a palette knife, Jason suddenly appears and smashes an artwork in the shape of a heart over Quentin's head and saves Zoe before leaving. Zoe chases after Jason, apologizing profusely but he rejects her, asking her why she would throw it all away. Jason and Zoe split up and Jason stays in a hotel. Zoe becomes a recluse but soon goes to a group therapy session. At the session she speaks of her deep love for her husband and Jason walks into the session

William Levy sat down to talk to Latin Post about his new role in "Addicted," and if there's one thing to expect, according to the actor, it's the unexpected.
"Quentin was definitely that," he said about his character in the movie. "What you think is going to happen, doesn't happen," Levy reveals as he shares what made this movie and character so interesting for him to play.
The Cuban star portrays a painter named Quentin Canosa in the movie, which is based on the novel by Zane. Promos describe the character as a "famous artist," "seductive sculptor" and "adulterer." After all, Quentin is one of the reasons that main character Zoe Reynard, played by Sharon Leal, becomes unfaithful to her husband.
She seems like she has the perfect life with her husband, two children and a successful career, but as Levy points out, she's not entirely satisfied. This drives her to look for more outside of the life she has built for herself, and into the arms of Quentin.
This was part of the appeal for Levy.
"Addicted" is one of the actor's biggest Hollywood films, and the role gave Levy the chance to do something he had never done before.
It was also a matter of good timing.
The book was released more than 10 years ago. In 2005, Zane was first contacted by Lionsgate, but nothing came out of it. When she was once again reached out to in 2011, Zane agreed to sign on as long as the movie started shooting within a year.
Levy, who got his start in telenovelas, has been known for playing a different kind of character. In shows like "Cuidado Con El ángel," "Sortilegio" and "Triunfo Del Amor," he was the one who was guaranteed a happily ever after. Quentin has more layers to him, and the end isn't guaranteed to be neatly wrapped up for him.
In fact, the biggest comparison between his role in "Addicted" and his role in telenovelas is fighting for the leading lady.
"She gave him hope," he said about Quentin. "He realizes she doesn't really love her man [because] if not, she wouldn't be with him all this time... He wants to take this relationship to another level."
However, "Addicted" is not necessarily a love story.
Levy explains that though his character pushes for a real relationship with Zoe, it's not what she wants. This is when things get intense, and for Zoe, it becomes a difficult situation to get out of.
"That's when everything changes," he said.
The thriller is designed to make the viewer experience a mix of emotions, and no one knows this better than Levy.
The first time he watched the movie was about a year ago, but it was in a much rawer state. It wasn't color corrected, and it didn't have music. When he watched the final product with an actual audience, he was surprised that people laughed and were upset during the film.
On finding success in Hollywood, the Cuban-born actor reflected on both the hardships he endured in the past and the success it brought him today, crediting his success to hard work and sacrifices.
"When I left Cuba and I had to leave Miami and I came to LA, I started studying acting. I was working, paying my rent, paying my classes, working on my stuff...it was a lot of time that I put into this to make it happen," he said. "To see it happen, it's a dream come true, and I wish people would see it as an example that everything in your life is possible."
"You've got to stay focused. Because a lot of negative people are going to come around you and tell you that you can't do it and tell you that you're not good at it, and you've just got to prove them wrong. I love proving people wrong, man, I love that. You guys got to love that. Prove people wrong all the time, it feels so good," he said with a laugh.
