Familia del boxeador Óscar
'Fantasma' González está deshecha por su muerte

Después de permanecer
2 días en el hospital bajo observación, falleció el día de ayer el boxeador
Óscar 'Fantasma' González.
Se sabe que su
familia se encuentra devastada por el sensible deceso del deportista, por lo
que llevarán los restos de González a su
natal Nayarit, donde vivía con su esposa Magaly.
'Fantasma' fue
lesionado en la pelea que sostuvo el sábado pasado ante Jesús 'El Zurdo' Galicia en el
Foro Polanco.
El boxeador sufrió
severas lesiones cerebrales durante la pelea en disputa por el título Latino del Consejo Mundial de
Boxeo ante el citado pugilista
En el décimo round,
González cayó noqueado y por su estado de salud fue trasladado de inmediato a
un hospital.
A las 13:50 horas del lunes, el corazón del
pugilista de 23 años se detuvo. Durante la madrugada fue declarado con
muerte cerebral.
González dejó un
récord de 23 peleas ganadas, 14 por nocaut y 3 perdidas en 6 años como boxeador
profesional.

Óscar González (April
22, 1990 in Nayarit, Tepic, Mexico – February 3, 2014, in Mexico City, Mexico)
was a former professional boxer who was from Mexico. During his career he fought
at super bantamweight and featherweight.
González fought as a
professional from 2007 until 2014, with a career record of 23 wins against 3
defeats. His nickname was "Fantasma", which is the Spanish word for
"ghost". His promoter was Box Latino, the same company that promoted

On February 1, 2014,
González took on Jesus Galicia in a bout for the WBC Latino Silver
featherweight championship at Foro Scotiabank (Scotiabank Forum) in the Polanco
district of Mexico City, a bout that was televised across Mexico and Latin
America by Televisa. Favored to win against the 12-7 Galicia, González was beaten by a
knockout in the tenth round of the scheduled twelve-rounder and suffered severe
brain damage. He fell into an almost immediate coma after the fight and by the
time he reached a local hospital, brain death had occurred. On February 3,
González was pronounced dead in the hospital at the age of twenty-three

knockout out Oscar Gonzalez in a fight over the weekend, causing a brain injury
that ultimately led to Gonzalez’s death.
Gonzales was 23.
He was in the
hospital for several days following the Saturday night fight; he passed away on
Monday afternoon.
The fight was World
Boxing Council’s Latino Silver championship.
The death comes just
a few months after another death in Mexican boxing. Francisco “Frankie” Leal
died in November after getting knocked out by Raul Hirales.
