Dejan Lovren (Croatian pronunciation: [dějan lǒʋren];born 5 July 1989) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Premier League club Liverpool and the Croatia national team.
Lovren began his career at Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Olympique Lyonnais in January 2010. He spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Ligue 1 team and won the 2012 Coupe de France before he signed for Southampton in 2013. After one season with Southampton, he joined Liverpool for £20 million and has since made over 150 appearances for the club.
Having previously represented Croatia at various youth levels, he made his senior debut in 2009 and has since gone on to make over 40 appearances for his country. He was selected in Croatia's squads for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the latter of which were beaten finalists against France.

Dejan Lovren has been one of those Liverpool players under media scrutiny for recent performances lately, but it's images of a different nature that have left him embarrassed.
During the World Cup in Brazil in the summer, Lovren and the rest of his Croatian team-mates thought it would be a good idea to relax beside the pool, totally naked.
The hotel they were staying in wasn't exactly the most private of places to skinny dip and Lovren was worried about what his wife Anita would think.
The images were caught by a member of the Croatian media and sparked outraged among the national team, who refused to talk in press conferences during the tournament as a result.
It was a tournament to forget for the players as it turned out, with just one win over Cameroon meaning they were on a flight home with two weeks of arriving.
Lovren was thankful of fans' complimentary comments regarding his physique and looks, but the centre-back, like the rest of the Croatia squad, wishes the pictures were never share with the public.
A very intimate team bonding exercise indeed, and perhaps in future the players will think twice about exposing themselves at one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar.
