FRANCO-AMERICAN VOCAL ACADEMY
Mission and Goals
Founded in 1993, the Franco-American Vocal Academy (formerly Austria American Mozart Academy) has for mission to discover, educate and inspire promising vocal talent.
The various programs of the Franco-American Vocal Academy strive to develop the complete singer, providing the tools to compete in this most difficult of professions: immersion in the various cultures, vocal technique, traditions of the operatic repertoire, art song interpretation, stage training, expert knowledge of interaction patterns in the operatic milieu.
FAVA is a not-for-profit, non-discriminatory organization affiliated with the Butler School of Music of the University of Texas.
Founders and Directors
William Lewis, Tenor
A heralded leading tenor of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City from 1957 to 1992. Renowned internationally at Teatro alla Scala, Milano; Royal Opera Covent Garden, London; Vienna Staatsoper; Hamburg Staatsoper; Opera de Paris; San Francisco Opera; and the festivals at: Salzburg, Edinburgh, Spoleto Italy, Spoleto USA, Wexford, Ireland and Amsterdam. He is a distinguished professor of the Butler School of Music of the University of Texas and the president of FAVA. William Lewis was awarded the title of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Republic of France.
Frederique Added, Soprano
The Parisian soprano Frédérique Added is recognized as one of the world's foremost interpreters of French Mélodies. She has graced concert stages in Paris, Dijon, Perigueux, Limoges, Nancy, Strasbourg, Salzburg, Minsk, Lodz, Warsaw and throughout the USA. Her vast knowledge of the Song Repertoire includes works by: Debussy, Poulenc, Rosenthal, Fauré, Duparc, Satie, Hahn, Chausson, Berlioz, Chopin, De Falla, Nin-Culmell, Rodrigo, Villa-Lobos. She is the vice-president of FAVA

Mia Elezovic
Ms. Elezovic has performed in concerts internationally, giving solo recitals as well as chamber music concerts in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czeck Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, Slovenia, Spain and the United States.She has also appeared as a soloist with the Croatian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, The Croatian Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra “Gaudeamus” under conductors MO Kazushi Ono, Pavle Despalj, Ralphe Pascal, Petar Skerjanec, Zlatan Srzic. She has also appeared with notable success on radio and television in Croatia and Germany. She leads a very active musical life participating in various festivals as Hamamatsu Music Academy, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Holland Music Session, International Keyboard Festival-New York, Meranofest, Las Vegas Music Festival. In 2008 she became part of accompanying department at Manhattan School of Music as well as faculty at Kids on Keys Music School, Bergen Academy of Music and ALPHA School of Music. In autumn 2010 Ms. Elezovic became a Faculty member at Royal Conservatory of Liege, Belgium.

Barbara Carroll de Obeso
Cultural producer, founder and coordinator of La Grua, cultural engeneering. Barbara Carroll has 14 years of experience in the organization and production of artistic and cultural projects. She has collaborated as a freelance and consultant in projects in Mexico, France, Spain and USA. As co-founder and director of the non-profit organization InC France-Mexique, a sturcture specialized in the promotion of contemporary art in France, she has produced among other projects the first edition of "Viva Mexico" Festival of Mexican cinematography in France in October 2013. She has be collaborating with FAVA since 2010 and has been involved inthe Summer Program in France in 2012 and 2013 and in the organization of various recitals in Paris with FAVA Alumni and the porduction of 'Opera Without Fences' in Texas, including the performances at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in 2013 and 2013.

The FAVA Program in Salzburg is designed for those singers who strive to acquire specialization in the the performance of the operas of W.A. Mozart.
FAVA believes that it is vital for young singers to perform complete roles, rather than scenes or excerpts. All singers accepted into the program are guaranteed to perform an entire role.
