La nueva telenovela de Salvador Mejía, La tempestad está próxima a estrenarse por lo que parte del elenco y producción se reunió en el foro 10 de Televisa San Ángel para presenciar una misa con motivo del inicio de grabaciones en dicha instalación.

Entre los presentes se encontraban William Levy, Ximena Navarrete e Iván Sánchez quienes aseguraron sentirse muy contentos con este proyecto.

"Muy bien gracias a Dios, contentísimo con Chava que eligió una historia excelente la verdad, siento que es el personaje que más me he divertido haciendo, un personaje que no solamente viene a sufrir como los demás que he hecho, vengo a divertirme, es un personaje que te da la oportunidad de hacer de las tuyas un poquito", aseguró William.

"Chava Mejía me ha recibido increíble, es un tipazo y muy bien, ha sido muy fácil la verdad. Tenemos un gran equipo técnico, artístico, de producción", mencionó Iván.

Ésta es la primer telenovela de Ximena Navarrete y será un reto para ella pues tendrá que dar vida a unas gemelas.

"Son dos personajes, una es una ejecutiva y la otra es una mujer que le ha tocado un poco de mala suerte y vivir otras cosas difíciles en su vida, los personajes tienen muchos matices y muchas cosas distintas que van a estar mostrando".

Finalmente, William espera que este proyecto sea todo un éxito, pues la telenovela tocará temas delicados que se viven hoy en día.

"Es una historia que trae acción, tiroteos, peleas todo el tiempo que te lleva a diferentes tipo de historias no sólo a la de los protagonistas si no hay otras que pasan en la vida real como tráfico de muchachas para prostituirlas, están tocando temas un poco fuertes pero reales".

"Me parece que va a gustar mucho, tiene todos los elementos para ser un éxito, una historia muy bonita, moderna, fuerte, dinámica, veremos el mar, barcos, habrá aventura y de todo en la historia", agregó César Évora.

A partir del 13 de mayo, William Levy se convertirá en el Capitán Fabre dentro de La tempestad.

"Estamos asegurándonos que la gente reciba un proyecto excelente y no uno más, que la gente vea algo diferente, y aquí va a haber acción, tiroteos y peleas", aseguró el galán.

Pero cómo se conocerá su personaje con el de Ximena Navarrete.

"Se quieren matar uno al otro, las escenas son muy divertidas, porque eso normalmente pasan en todas las relaciones (risas). Hay una historia de amor increíble, una historia de amor muy bonita, la forma en la que se conocen es totalmente diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver en las telenovelas, siempre se conocen, se enamoran, al principio se odian".

Las primeras jornadas de grabación han sido muy intensas.

"En mis tiempos libres lo que hago, la verdad es estudiar las escenas, entre escena y escena leo un poco lo que voy a hacer, tengo chance de vez en cuando de conversar en Twitter con mis fans, pongo fotos de lo que estamos haciendo", concluyó.

Navarrete espera con ansias La tempestad

Ximena Navarrete está consciente que su protagónico en la telenovela La tempestad ha despertado la envidia de algunas personas, actitudes que prefiere ignorar.

"No me gusta estar pensando en las cosas negativas, la envidia y todo eso porque siento que te quita energía y yo ahorita necesito mucha energía para hacerlo bien, yo estoy muy enfocada en mí. Siempre hay gente que dice, que se molesta, yo estoy haciendo mi trabajo, es una oportunidad que se me presentó en la vida y decidí tomarla".

No está nerviosa a unos días de empezar las grabaciones.

"Estoy emocionada, tengo ese sentimiento como de emoción padre, no de nervios, es emoción padre y el nervio que te motiva a hacer las cosas bien".

Eso sí, está consciente de la gran oportunidad que se le está brindando, un debut protagónico en horario estelar.

"Sí, es una responsabilidad muy grande, la gente lo ve tal vez muy fácil, pero de verdad es un trabajo pesado, son grabaciones durante 8, 9 meses, de todo el día, hasta sábados, fines de semana, vamos a estar viajando a Veracruz; claro que es una responsabilidad porque quiero hacerlo bien, las cosas que he hecho en mi carrera me he preparado y éste es un proyecto que me interesa mucho y quiero que sea exitoso".

Sabe que la prensa y el público querrán ligarla románticamente a sus galanes: William Levy e Iván Sánchez.

"Yo tengo a mi novio y pues cuando amas a alguien amas a alguien, sí es difícil, estás trabajando todo el tiempo con una sola persona, nunca he estado ahí, pero lo que sí sé es que yo soy muy respetuosa en ese aspecto y estoy buscando que mi papel sea lo mejor que yo pueda y de ahí en más no me interesan otras cosas", concluyó.

William Levy is a dad, telenovela star and crossover personality but it looks like there’s a lot more to Levy than meets the eye right away (that is, if you can focus on anything other than his killer smile and biceps), as he’s a playful guy who is thankful for the chance to make his box office dreams come true.

The 32-year-old – who was born in Cuba and emigrated to the U.S. as a teen – is experiencing a rapidly rising career. As a celebrity spokesperson for Pepsi NEXT, Levy’s face can now be spotted on grocery store displays, billboards across the country and in an upcoming national television commercial; he’s also recently wrapped up two English-language films, “Addicted” and Tyler Perry’s “Single Mom’s Club.” Chatting from Los Angeles, Levy spoke to NBC Latino’s Nina Terrero about acting like a rock star on the set of his steamy Pepsi NEXT campaign, how his life has changed since his crossover breakthrough on “Dancing with the Stars” and dished about what fans can expect to see from him on-screen this year.

NBC Latino: You were photographed as a few different characters for this new Pepsi NEXT campaign. Which look did you have the most fun in?

Levy: I had fun with each one of them, but I have to tell you: I had the most fun with the rock star, the Casanova and action hero. [Because] when we did it, the director told me, you know what? ‘Just do whatever you want to do.’ So I was like, are you sure? She said, ‘you have the instruments, just do whatever you want!’ So I’m like OK, action! I started jumping all over the place, kicking everything — I just went crazy.

NBC Latino: Say you’re going to make a romantic meal for your significant other. There will be Pepsi NEXT, but what’s on the menu?

Levy: Make? What do you mean make? If I have time to cook, I’ll make something. I like cooking, I enjoy cooking actually. When I cook, I eat better.

NBC Latino: What’s the scoop on the English language films you’re working on?

Levy: We just finished two movies, “Addicted” and “Single Moms Club.” Great movies, one is a drama, “Addicted,” and “Single Moms Club’” is a romantic comedy… which has a really nice message for single moms.

NBC Latino: Why is it important to you to be involved with a project that has a message you feel strongly about?

Levy: Always, always. Sometimes I think in everything we do, we want a message. Either it’s a book or movie, or series. Or when you talk to somebody, you always want to send out a message.

NBC Latino: You’ve had a really fast rise to crossover stardom. How has your life changed since ‘Dancing with the Stars’?

Levy: I’m just really enjoying this moment right now. I appreciate everything that’s happened in my life. I always dreamed about this and it’s amazing to live it — I thank God every day for it. To be able to achieve things I want to do, and be able to come to the American market is something I always wanted to do. [Crossover fame] changed things around my life, but it hasn’t really changed my life. It doesn’t change who you are. My life keeps being the same. I just have more opportunities than before to help my family and the people around me. I’m the same guy: I play dominoes when I have a chance, spend time with my babies. Sure, you work more and have less time with them but at the end, you’re the same guy.

'La Tempestad' Star William Levy on His New Telenovela and Return to Spanish-Language TV

The former "Dancing With the Stars" competitor stars in a new Univision novela debuting Monday night.

Telenovela star William Levy makes his return to Spanish-language TV on Monday night.

The Cuban-American actor, who took a two-year hiatus to compete on ABC's Dancing With the Stars and other projects, is starring in Univision's novelaLa Tempestad (The Storm), which debuts Monday. (It will air weeknights at 9 p.m.)

La Tempestad centers on Marina (former Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete, making her acting debut), whose revelations of her vengeful former boss' indiscretions force her to find work in a small fishing village. There she meets Damián (Levy), the owner of the fishing boat La Tempestad, and they fall in love. But jealous and ambitious rivals emerge bent on destroying any hopes they may have had for happiness.

The telenovela's cast also includes Spanish star Iván Sánchez as Levy’s main rival, along with Mexican actors including César Évora, Daniela Romo, Laura Carmine, Jessica Coch, Diana Bracho, Alfonso Herrera and Luis Manuel Avila.

The project, shot in and around Veracruz, Mexico, is said to be one of Televisa's most ambitious productions to date, spearheaded by producer Salvador Mejía (Triunfo del Amor).

Ahead of the show's premiere, Levy -- whose credits also include Sortilegio and Triunfo del Amor -- talked to The Hollywood Reporter via e-mail about his new show and his growing fan base.

The Hollywood Reporter: What is it about this project that attracted you to the role?

William Levy: I'm excited to return to telenovelas with this production. It's an action-filled, romantic drama. In fact, one of my first scenes is a full blown battle with pirates. I know my U.S. fan base, and they will love this action-packed drama that is also a beautiful love story.

THR: How has your fan base grown since Dancing With the Stars? [Levy finished in third place on the show's 14th season during the May 2012 finale.]

Levy: The show gave me a new fan base here in the U.S.

THR: What can you tell us about your character in La Tempestad?

Levy: I play Damián Fabre, the captain of a fishing boat, who falls in love with Marina, the director of the company I work for. The obstacles and challenges they face make it a riveting story that I know audiences will enjoy.

THR: What can viewers expect to see from the show?

Levy: La Tempestad is full of action, yet a romantic drama. In fact, my first scene is a full-blown battle with pirates. It's a great production that was filmed on location in beautiful Veracruz, and it has a great cast.

THR: This is your first Spanish-language role since DWTS. What made you want to return to Spanish-language TV?

Levy: This was a great opportunity for me because the novela has good elements. I simply loved the script. Besides La Tempestad, I have two movies coming up next year: Addicted and Single Moms Club, both Lionsgate productions.
