Dr. Mark J. Goodrich, tenor, recently returned to the voice faculty of Cal. State Fullerton, where he originally taught for a decade (1992-2002) and chaired the vocal area.  He has also served full-time on the voice faculties of Boston University (Chair of the Voice Department), and California State University, Los Angeles. He also maintains voice studios in Long Beach, San Francisco and Berkeley, CA. His students can be heard in leading roles in major opera houses all over the world including The Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera in Manhattan, Paris Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera and others. Many others have participated in prestigious opera programs such as the Met Young Artist Program, the Merola Program and other training programs with Santa Fe Opera, Opera Pacific, Los Angeles Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and the Aspen Music Festival. Many current and former students sing with professional choral ensembles, such as the choruses of Los Angeles Opera and San Francisco Opera, Pacific Chorale, American Bach Soloists, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and Clerestory, among others. His students have also been winners or finalists in major vocal competitions such as the George London Competition, The McAllister Vocal Competition, and The Zachary Competition.

Dr. Goodrich has performed solo recital, opera and oratorio performances throughout the United States as well as having toured Italy, Greece and Yugoslavia as soloist with the Amor Artist Chorale and Orchestra under the direction of Johannes Somary. He has performed numerous operatic roles, including Ernesto in DON PASQUALE, Sextus in GIULIO CESARE, Nemorino in L’ELISIR D’AMORE, Fenton in FALSTAFF, and the title role in ALBERT HERRING. He has worked with many noted opera directors, including Tito Capobianco, Ken Cazan, and the late Cynthia Auerbach, among others. He has performed major roles in works by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Handel and Saint-Säens, including a performance of THE CREATION under the direction of James Sinclair with Orchestra New England, which was broadcast over Connecticut Public Radio. He premiered Somary’s BALLAD FOR GOD AND HIS PEOPLE in a role which was expressly written for him. Dr. Goodrich has also appeared numerous times as a featured soloist with the Baroque Festival of Corona del Mar, receiving praise from both THE LOS ANGELES TIMES and THE ORANGE COUNTRY REGISTER. While in Boston, the tenor performed in the area premiere of Swanee Hunt’s WITNESS CANTATA with The Boston Landmark Orchestra, as well as Mozart’s REQUIEM and MESSIAH with New England Classical Singers. He also was tenor soloist in Britten’s WAR REQUIEM, which was performed at Boston’s historic Symphony Hall.  He recently travelled to Chicago to perform Mozart’s REQUIEM at the MozartFest at Saint James Cathedral.  He also recently appeared as tenor soloist in MESSIAH with Camerata Singers in Long Beach, CA.Dr. Goodrich received his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Yale School of Music and his Doctorate in Musical Arts (Vocal Performance) from The University of Michigan, where he worked with tenor George Shirley. He has also worked extensively with tenor John Stewart, Jan DeGaetani, Martin Katz, William Parker and Doris Yarick-Cross.  He is a member of the National Association of Singers and serves on the Executive Board of NATS-LA.

Ian Judge joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1975. His productions there include The Wizard of Oz, The Comedy of Errors, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Twelfth Night, A Christmas Carol, The Relapse, Troilus and Cressida and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Opera repertoire includes The Marriage of Figaro, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Roméo et Juliette, Don Carlo, Tannhäuser and The Stigmatized (LA Opera), The Tales of Hoffmann (Sydney, Houston, Opera Pacific), Faust, The Merry Widow, Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci, La Belle Vivette, Don Quixote, Mefistofele (English National Opera), The Flying Dutchman Simon Boccanegra (Covent Garden), Simon Boccanegra (Washington, Dallas), Macbeth (Cologne), La Bohème (Mariinsky), The Mikado (Savoy Theatre); Salome (New York City Opera) and Falstaff (Châtelet, Paris). Recent work includes Roméo et Juliette for Lyric Opera of Chicago, Sir John in Love by Ralph Vaughan Williams at English National Opera, The Flying Dutchman at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Simon Boccanegra for his debut at the Canadian Opera Company (Dora Award nomination for best operaproduction), Tannhäuser at the Teatro Real in Madrid and A MidsummerNight’s Dream at the Britten Theatrein London.
