Tempest,” the composer Thomas Adès’s adaptation of the Shakespeare play, on
Tuesday night, with Mr. Adès conducting, in his Met debut.

Descendants of the conductor Arturo Toscanini are auctioning
off several of his possessions through Sotheby’s auction house on Nov. 28 in London. Daniel Wakin
writes: “The auctioneers said the cache was estimated to be worth at least $1.6
million. Some items will be on display at Sotheby’s in New York from Nov. 12-16.”

records on the covers of its series of Toscanini recordings issued in the 1970s
and ’80s. It’s part of a collection of 20 medals and four plaques in the
auction that belonged to Toscanini and members of his family.
