Third Watch is an American crime drama series which first
aired on NBC from 1999 to 2005 for a total of 132 episodes, broadcast in 6
seasons of 22 episodes each.
The show was set and filmed in New York City, and with an
ensemble cast of characters the storylines centered on the lives of police
officers of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the firefighters and
paramedics of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), all working the same
fictional precinct during the 3pm to 11pm shift - the 'Third Watch'.
After the September 11 terrorist attacks hit New York in 2001, season
3 opened with the award-winning October 15, 2001, episode "In Their Own
Words", featuring interviews with real-life NYPD and FDNY members who
responded to the attacks. The following episode was titled "September
Tenth".
In the series finale, "Goodbye to Camelot",
broadcast on May 6, 2005, the third watch is disbanded after a grenade attack
burned down the police station.
Third Watch's original ensemble cast in the series' first
season consisted of Michael Beach, Coby Bell, Bobby Cannavale, Eddie Cibrian,
Molly Price, Kim Raver, Anthony Ruivivar, Skipp Sudduth, and Jason Wiles.
Eddie Cibrian also portrayed the contract-role of Cole on Sunset Beach
while appearing on Third Watch at the same time until Sunset Beach's
cancellation in January 2000.

Jedan od kreatora serije, John Wells pokušao je već prije
početka serije prikazati seriju od problemima bolničara, ali nije imao novčanih
sredstava da to ostvari. Ed Bernero, bivši policajac iz Chicaga pokušao je
napraviti seriju o policajcima iz svojih iskustava. Njih dvoje su udružili
snage i osmisliti seriju "Trinity" koja je bila kratkog vijeka. Nakon
neuspjeha "Trinitya" osmislili su novi zajednički projekt koji je
potrajao 6 sezona - Heroje iz strasti.
Radnja se zbiva u New Yorku. Glavni likovi su policajci
(NYPD), te bolničari i vatrogasci (FDNY). Serija prikazuje svakodnevni život
boraca za pravdu.
Glavni likovi su mladi policajac Maurice "Bosco"
Boscorelli (Jason Wiles), njegova partnerica Faith Yokas (Molly Price), drugi
par policajaca Tyrone "Ty" Davis, Jr. (Coby Bell) te njegov partner
John "Sully" Sullivan (Skipp Sudduth) od policajaca, a od vatrogasaca
i bolničara Carlos Nieto (Anthony Ruivivar), Monte "Doc" Parker
(Michael Beach) i Kimberly "Kim" Zambrano (Kim Raver).
Bosco i Yokas su muško-ženski par policajaca koji se
svakodnevno bore protiv kriminalaca, Bosco je mladić koji se tek kasnije
zaljubljuje, dok je Yokas udana te ima dvoje djece. Tokom serije Yokas se
borila i s muževom ovisnošću o alkoholu, siromaštvom, svojom bolesti te
kćerkinom ovisnosti o drogi.
Ty je mladi policajac koji se pokušava probiti na viši
položaj, dok je Sully iskusni policajac koji se, nakon što su mu ruski mafijaši
ubili ženu, odao alkoholu protiv kojeg se borio ostatak vremena kada nije radio.
Sully ima staru bolesnu majku o kojoj se treba brinuti.
Doc je najiskusniji bolničar u postaji. Nominiran je za
najboljeg bolničara u cijelom New Yorku. Odbija prihvatiti nagradu zato što
vjeruje da ima boljih bolničara od njega. Mladi Carlos pokušava se uklopiti u
njihovo društvo iako mu to ne uspijeva zbog svoje izravnosti u razgovoru sa
ostalima, te neprestanom hvalisavošću samoga sebe. Kim je bolničarka koja je
bila u vezi s vatrogascem Jimmyem od kojeg se rastala. Par iz propalog braka
ima sina.

I remember when Third Watch first hit the airwaves in
1999. The show followed a group of New York’s first
responders in the fictional 55th Precinct and featured members of the fire
department, police department and paramedics.
I instantly fell in love with the show and remained a loyal follower
until its cancellation in 2005. It
seemed to take forever for Third Watch to hit the DVD scene, but when the first
season finally became available, I knew I had to make it mine…and then there
was the long wait for Season Two, but finally, that wait is over.
In Season One of
Third Watch, we learned a little bit about the first responders based in
Camelot (the corner of Arthur and King).
We learned the basics of who they were and what they faced on the 3-11
PM shift known as the third watch. In
Season Two, we have a slight change. The
focus is not so much on the job as it is on the people. While we still get to see Bosco (Jason
Wiles), Faith (Molly Price), Doc (Michael Beach), Jimmy (Eddie Cibrian), Kim
(Kim Raver), Bobby (Bobby Cannavale), Sully (Skipp Sudduth), Ty (Coby Bell) and
Carlos (Anthony Ruivivar) in action, we now get some in-depth insight into the
characters themselves, learning about what makes them tick.
