The majestic surroundings of Cardiff Castle will play host to world leaders including US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, it has been revealed.
The heads of state and government from the 28 Nato nations will all dine together in the Welsh capital following what is set to be a day of pomp, politics and protests as the historic Nato Summit begins on Thursday.
The US president’s arrival at Newport’s Celtic Manor Resort on Wednesday night marked the start of 48 hours of diplomatic activity in South Wales as alliance members and their partners meet.
Nato Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will give an address to put the summit into context at 9.35am while Mr Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron will spend the morning visiting Mount Pleasant Primary School in Rogerstone, Newport.
The appearance is the most high-profile of a number of school visits being held in and around Newport with government ministers and Nato dignitaries.

Barack Obama has signed off from his historic trip to Wales for the Nato summit by thanking the nation's people for their hospitality.
Mr Obama was speaking at a press conference at the Celtic Manor before leaving Wales at the end of the two-day summit.
He will leave the Newport resort this evening on board Marine One, before flying back to the US on Air Force One.
The President opened a press conference in which he stressed the USA's determination to combat Islamic extremists in Iraq and Russia's aggression towards Ukraine by thanking the people of Wales, and of Newport and Cardiff in particular.
