Pope Francis will make history as he will visit the United States of America for the first time on Sept 22. The Argentine cardinal will be personally meet by the President Barack Obama and his first Lady Michelle Obama in a very rare moment.

The presidential couple will go their way and lead the welcoming committee for the 78-year-old pontiff upon his arrival in Washington. According to Yahoo News, the White House said that the 44 and current President will make the rare trip to go to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to formally welcome the Bishop of Rome.

As reported by People, the White House spokesman released a statement. "The President and the First Lady will greet His Holiness Pope Francis on his arrival at Joint base Andrews in the United States on Tuesday, September 22, 2015," Eric Schultz said.

"As you all know, on Wednesday, the following day, September 23, the President and First Lady will welcome His Holiness Pope Francis to the White House. During the visit, the President and the Pope will continue the dialogue which they began during the President's visit to the Vatican in March," he added.

The New York Times cited that in March 2014, President Obama and Pope Francis met at the Vatican and talked about some of their concerns like income inequality, the environment, the abortion rights and same-sex marriage. The presidential home's announcement continue saying: "The president looks forward to continuing this conversation with the Holy Father during his first visit to the United States as pope."

Moreover, the NY Daily News reported the Vicar of Christ's schedule. It includes a midday prayer with other bishops at St. Matthew's Cathedral and a Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Jorge Mario Bergoglio in real life, he will be the first Pope to address a joint session of Congress before he goes to New York.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old head of state regularly travel to the military base for his out-of-town trips. However, he doesn't often welcome a visiting dignitary at the said place according to People.

To recall, the former President George W. Bush and his First Lady Laura Bush welcomed Pope Benedict XVI at the same Maryland military base. The welcoming visit is possible if its precedent.

Meanwhile, People took note of the conversation between the President and the Pope happened last year. The pair will continue to cover "their shared values and commitments to a wide range of issues."

WASHINGTON – On September 23, after meeting with President Obama at the White House, Pope Francis will drive a parade route between the Ellipse and a portion of the National Mall in the Popemobile. This will be an opportunity for the estimated tens of thousands of people expected to gather in Washington to see the Holy Father while he is visiting the nation’s capital, September 22-24.

The viewing area of the open motorcade route is free and open to the public. No tickets are required, however spectators will need to pass through security. Security gates will open for the Ellipse and the National Mall at 4:00 a.m. on September 23 and will close at 10:00 a.m. No one will be admitted into the area after that point in time. No food or drink may be brought in from the outside, but concessions will be available for purchase. Once inside the perimeter, attendees will not be allowed to leave and re-enter until the Holy Father’s Popemobile tour is complete. People are also invited to gather on the grounds of the Washington Monument to watch live coverage of the Holy Father’s day on a large video screen. The pope’s schedule will include his address to the U.S. bishops at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle, as well as the Mass of Canonization for Blessed Junipero Serra. The afternoon Mass will be celebrated by Pope Francis on the east portico of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and The Catholic University of America in the afternoon. Between his address to the bishops and the live coverage of the Mass, a pre-Mass program will be aired on the large screen. The Canonization Mass at the basilica is expected to begin around 4:15 p.m. Participants that watch the live coverage will be permitted to bring in signage, food and drinks into the area, provided they are in compliance with guidelines set by the National Park Service.
