Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Friday that during his visit to the Vatican on Saturday he would invite Pope Francis to visit Croatia and discuss with him the finalising of the canonisation of the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac and ways to strengthen ties between the Holy See and Croatia.
"I expect messages of encouragement from (Pope Francis), I plan to invite him to visit Croatia, I expect us to discuss the finalisation of the canonisation of the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac and other issues that are important for closer relations between the Holy See and Croatia."

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has invited Pope Francis to visit Croatia during an audience on Saturday.
Plenkovic kicked off his visit to the Vatican with an audience with Pope Francis. The Croatian PM, who told reporters before the visit that it was ‘one of the most important events in his life’, extended an invitation to the Pope to make his first visit to Croatia.
