Nagoya mayor opens school for politicians
The Yomiuri Shimbun
Nagoya Mayor Takashi
Kawamura opened a school in Tokyo
on Saturday that aims to foster politicians who may run in future House of
Representatives elections.
Kawamura will teach
potential candidates political know-how and policies so that Genzei Nippon, a
regional political party led by Kawamura that pledges to cut taxes, will win
seats in the Diet.
On the first day,
about 200 people attended the lectures and Kawamura gave an introductory
speech. One of the school's lecturers is Shigeaki Koga, special adviser at the
a joint headquarters of Osaka City and Osaka
Prefecture and a former
official of the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry.
The school is located
in Tokyo
because Kawamura wants to build a political foothold in the capital.
Kawamura has opposed
the planned consumption tax rate hike put forth by the Democratic Party of Japan.
