The Royal Opera House has announced its first concert since the lockdown due to the spread of COVID-19.

The concert is scheduled for June 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. local time and will feature music by Britten, Handel, Butterworth, and Turnage performed by such artists as Louise Alder, Toby Spence, and Gerald Finley. The showcase will also feature a world premiere by Wayne McGregor. The concert will be conducted by Antonio Pappano and hosted by Anita Rani of BBC.
There will be an additional two performances on June 20 and 27 which will be available to view live and on demand via the company’s official website.
The Royal Opera House is the latest of the European houses to announce its plans to reopen its theater. Other companies that have initiated concert series to reopen include the Vienna State Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.

The Vienna State Opera has announced that it will be present 15 live concert performances throughout June.
In keeping with social distancing protocols, the concerts will be for a maximum of 100 audience members.
The concert schedule will kick with a Liederabend starring Günther Groissböck and pianist Alexandra Goloubitskaia.

All concerts will start at 7:30 p.m. without intermission and will be broadcast live via the company’s official website. The gala showcase will commence at 7 p.m. and will feature one intermission.
The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced that it will begin to reopen starting on May 27, 2020 with its “Wednesday Strolls” program.
Per the company’s official website, the events will take place on Wednesdays and feature a maximum of 20 spectators to experience select chamber music as performed by members of the Bavarian State Orchestra.

The “Wednesday Strolls” tickets will be available at 10 a.m. on Mondays, two days prior to the concerts. Each concert will last between 30 to 45 minutes with two performances at 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The Bayerische Staatsoper is the latest company to announce its plans to start a reopening procedure after the COVID-19 crisis. Other organizations that have started reopening plans include the Musikverein Wien, the Rossini Festival, and Oper Frankfurt, among many others.
