President Donald Trump said the European Union is less fair to the United States on trade than even China.
The European Union said Friday it is prepared to negotiate a limited trade deal, including on cars, with the US.
Cecilia Malmstrom, also tweeted that the bloc would not accept any limits to trade that World Trade Organization rules such as quotas.
