Western Balkans 6 leaders to meet at the Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit in Tirana

TIRANA – Leaders of the Western Balkans 6 will meet tomorrow in Tirana at the Summit of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, the initiative created by Croatia and Slovenia in 2013, in order to push forward the region’s accession into EU, reports Danas.
Western Balkans leaders taking part in this process, members of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić, and Presidents of Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia Milo Đukanović, Hashim Thaçi and Aleksandar Vučić announced their participation at the two-day meeting. The presence of the leaving president of North Macedonia Đorđe Ivanov has not been confirmed yet.
The Presidents of Croatia and Slovenia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and Borut Pahor together with Albanian president Ilir Meta will host this two-day Summit.
High Representative EU Federica Mogherini and the President of Poland Andrzej Duda will attend the Brdo-Brijuni Process as well.
The meeting will start tomorrow with the working dinner and the main part of the meeting will take place on Thursday.
It is expected that Western Balkans leaders adopt Joint Declaration which will address the new European Commission to keep Western Balkans’ accession on the agenda due to the fact that the perspective of region’s membership in the EU is important not only for the stability of the region but for the entire EU, reports Danas.
The last Summit Brdo-Brijuni was held in Skopje last April, when the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Bojko Borisov and the President of European Council Donald Tusk were special guests.
